Easy-to-live-with minimal style is Matanna Katz’s signature, and her Atlantic Seaboard apartment is as comfortable (and captivating) as they come. A natural inclination for good design and her talent for effortlessly putting things together means that this space is as breathtakingly beautiful as it is harmonious.
With an ability to see depth and beauty in even the simplest shades, Matanna has limited the colour palette to gentle neutrals. Subtle shades of antique white softly reflect the light, while the wooden floor adds warmth, creating a welcoming cozy home. She creates these collages of things, collected over time and in different places, that adds interest and tells a visual story, throughout her apartment.

Because Matanna has such a clear idea of what she likes, we both realized that we had the same vision for her custom created artworks by the renowned illustrator Maria Magdalena.
After some careful consideration we opted for a subtle cream coloured matboard that tied in perfectly with all the artworks and finished it off with custom build American Ash hardwood frames, which created a look that is simple, modern and understated elegance that is undeniably hygge.

MATANNA'S HOME TRUTHS

When it comes to my home my style changes every few years. Currently my style is minimal and modern mixed with a few older antique pieces of decor and art to give it character and depth.
I love Summer, and because our festive season is during the heat of our Summer it encapsulates the perfect setting for outdoor entertaining, picnics in the park, cooking fresh seasonal produce, walks along the promenade in Sea Point and the most beautiful sunsets.
The best thing about living in the Atlantic Seaboard is having access to the promenade and how accessible everything is within walking distance.
Nature and ethereal natural light are most definitely my biggest sources of inspirations.
My most treasured piece in my home is the beautiful sculpture of a woman’s body that my family has had for years and was given to me by my parents.
My current weekend soundtrack consists of : “Paris in the rain” by Lauv, and “Lose it” / “Drive” / “Technicoloured Beat” / “Lifetimes” / “Without You” / “Livewire” / “Landslide” all by Oh Wonder.
Chose quality over quantity. A beautiful concept to implement into any and every aspect of your life.
