Bringing the outdoors inside

My love for plants is no secret and I do have a ton of them at home. But framed botanicals are quite beautiful new way of bringing the outdoors inside. I just love the way they look floating between the glass. They look equally pretty hanging on the wall or even displayed on the window sill with nature as its background. Either way the shadows created will draw you in.

About a year ago I found this gorgeous floating DIY tutorial. With minimal supplies you can easily create something exceptional.

Simply walk around in nature, find your favourite leaves, flowers, feathers, and whatever makes you happy and do it yourself. I love the idea of making them as gifts for friends and family as well.

Supplies:

Frame

Palm leaf

Step 1

The technique is called plain weave. Begin by folding the blade in a 45-degree angle

Step 2

Alternate going over-under for each palm frond

Step 3

Repeat with the next frond, over-under pattern that’s the opposite of your first line

Step 4

Repeat steps 1-3 to continuing to braid the palm fronds until you’ve reach the end of the frond

Same procedure goes for the opposite side

I hope this inspired you. Feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments and be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook for more beautiful photos of frames and other things.
